Persuasion Using Monroe’s Motivated Sequence

In my Honors Speaking class, we’re discussing using Monroe’s Motivated Sequence as a way to persuade listeners. This tried-and-true process has five steps:

  1. Attention
  2. Need
  3. Satisfaction
  4. Visualization
  5. Action
