Thanks for blazing a trail on this, Barbara. We've been kicking around ways to incorporate Twitter into our PR Online Tactics class. Still not sure how Twitter fits into PR strategy (aside from being a listening post), but it's certainly valuable in terms of making professional contacts. While I hate that term "personal brand," Twitter certainly helps you extend it. Use with care! @billsledzik

I'd been waiting to hear the results of your students' experience, and though I'm not really surprised by the way many of your students have taken to Twitter, I am surprised that a number seem to see it as a purely professional tool. I suspect that this speaks to the learning experience you've crafted, and to the way they've seen you use this tool. Did you by chance employ Group Tweet (http://grouptweet.com/)?

I had thought they might see other ways the technology could be harnessed to address academic or social needs. As new tools continue to amplify Twitter's usefulness, I suspect your students will become more and more regular users of this service. To keep 'in-the-loop' on new developments, I recommend they keep tabs on Everything Twitter (http://everythingtwitter.com/).

Thanks so much for sharing this story, I'm sure other tweeting educators will be interested in the results...
